Kung Hei Fat Choy
Happy Chinese New Year 2011

Chinese New Year is a product of the Lunisolar Calendar
The Chinese calendar harmonizes both the Lunar cycle and the Solar year by incorporating astronomical observations of:
a.The phases of the moon and
b.The apparrent path of the sun

How is Chinese New Year’s Day determined?
In one sentence, the Chinese New Year is the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice. It is based strictly on astronomical observations, and has nothing to do with the Pope, emperors, animals or myths. Due to its scientific and mathematical nature, we can easily and precisely calculate backward or forward for thousands of years.

The Winter Solstice occurs when the apparent path of the sun reaches its lowest point on the horizon. To an observer in the northern hemisphere, the sun reaches its lowest height of the year on that day. The shadow it casts is the longest. For an observer in the southern hemisphere, the opposite is true.

  1. How can i extend the range of a Wireless N router? I have an Xtreme N handheld router (Dlink). I have to extend the reach in the wireless signal. I know how to do it for the G signal. I want to know how to do the idea for an N sign. Is it possible make use of regular N routers as repeaters. If so, how to configure them. Thanks for that information.

  2. Good post. I learn something totally new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon on a daily basis. It will always be useful to read articles from other authors and practice something from their sites.

  3. I was just searching for this info for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your website. I wonder what’s the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this type of informative sites in top of the list. Generally the top sites are full of garbage.

  5. Very interesting post, never the less. Talking of position of heavenly bodies is a matter of science. Of scientific matter.

January 1 appears to be purely incidental that became traditional. There simply are 365 days in a year. It happened to have been divided to 12 [Why 12 when it could have been 6 or 15 or what]. The first of twelve happened to have been named January. And the first day of that, well, that’s it.

  6. January 1 is the universally recognized New Year. Even China recognizes that. To changed that now can result to unimaginable chaos…computers’ timer are all set to that.

Sure every nation has the right to celebrate what are parts of their customs and traditions.

  7. I am in fact third filial generation Chinese. But I observe only one New Year, not this one. I go with where majority of Filipinos are. Like the majority of 10% Filipinos of Chinese descent, and like my my great old man, old China is history. There is only Philippine of the Filipinos and for Filipinos. Chinese belong to China.

One who thinks like xxx, speaks like xxx, and walks like xxx, is an xxx.

‘One who thinks like xxx, speaks like xxx, and walks like xxx, is an xxx.’  ikaw ang taong nabubuhay sa lohika!
